1st PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CEMETERY, BUEL

Town of Canajoharie

Montgomery County, NY

Notes at end of cemetery list - "Copied by Roy E. McFee on September 2, 1938. In the fall of 1972 the Buel church was razed. Submitted by Carol H. Warner, General Chairwoman, Ft. Rensselaer Church, NSDAR, Canajoharie, NY, January 9, 1973. Recopied from Mr. McFee's records."

The six Gardner and two Miller graves are enclosed within an ornamental iron fence. This is the only part of the cemetery that is in lot form. All the other graves are in rows, with families of course rather grouped together. The inscriptions in this list were taken in order as nearly as possible. The easterly row was taken first, followed by the other rows in order toward the west. In each row the copying was done from south to north. This means that the work in the cemetery began in the south-east corner and ended in the north-west corner.

The Buel church cemetery was prepared and reformatted by volunteer Judy Anger. "I descend from the Orendorf's and Edick's. Still looking for information of my great-greatfather William Henry Orendorf b. 10-6-1822. He died at an early age during an epidemic in 1850. He married Cornelia McIntyre. Also Catherine Edick abt 1805 part of the Ittig/Edick family of German Flatts and Columbia. She married Richard Woodhull. Would love to hear from anyone with info on these four families."
