Morris Family Burial GroundAmes, NYTown of Canajoharie"After a long search I finally found the location of my 3rd GGrandfather's burial ground in Ames. The records for the small cemetery were compiled by the Office of the Village of Ames Historian and are on Family Search microfilm #1320966. The burial ground is also described in the book "Registry of Descendants of Edward Morris of Roxbury...", 1887, by Jonathan Flynt Morris. All of the entries were compiled by the Ames Historian, who was not named, in 1988, and sent to Mrs. Harriet B. Hall of the Moses DeWitt chapter, NSDAR, in Syracuse NY. The local historian described it as a "rural cemetery, located in rear of home presently owned by Richard Burgess -- behind tennis courts, ill-kept, mowed once a year." It is named after Charles Morris who lived on the site in the early 1800's. His 1st wife, Meriam, was one of the earliest burials, and his 2nd wife, Sarah, was the last." Submitted by Harry E. Morris, Pittsford, NY
