William Edwin Irving's Coffin Receipt

The receipt below was for the coffin of William Edwin Irving, ggg-grandfather of Pete Simmonds. William was the owner of the general store in Auriesville, Town of Glen, as well as a Justice of the Peace there in the 1860's. The coffin was purchased by his son Jay Irving at Peter Wiles & Sons of Fultonville. The receipt, dated April 8th, 1873, was for "One Raised top Coffin & Hearse, $35.00" and "1 Plate & Engraving, $4.00. It was promptly paid for on April 14, 1873. The proprietors of the establishment were Peter and Wm. Wiles. The image can be scrolled from side to side for a full view.
