Clarissa JOLLS, born 26 Dec 1786 (place unknown) died 20 Oct 1874 in Worcester, Oswego Co, NY, married (date and place unknown) David WILBER, born 14 Aug 1779 somewhere in Dutchess Co, and died 20 Mar 1860 in Worcester. She was his second wife. Their children were:
There are no records of the name Jolls in Worcester...or Otsego Co, for that matter. I checked the census indexes for NY and I found the following in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 records:
1810: Jolls, Robert and Jolls, Thomas from Herkimer Co, NY
1820: Jolls (?), Luther and Jolls, Thomas from Norway, Herkimer Co, NY
1830: Jolls, Luther from Russia, Herkimer Co, NY and Jolls, Lucy from Fairfield, Herkimer Co, NY
Robert and Luther in the 1810 Census would be in the same age bracket as Clarissa and could be brothers. Thomas would have been old enough to be Clarissa's father. Any help would be appreciated. I am descended from James Spencer and Julia (Chapman) Wilber who lived and died in Worcester, and were my gg-grandparents. Could the surname Jolls be a variation of the spelling for JELLES?

James D. Rubins Sun 02 Feb 1997There are a couple of the lines that made it up to Fulton, Montgomery, and Herkimer counties:
Stephen SEAMAN [b.27 June 1827 d. 7 Feb. 1863 at Johnstown, NY]
Mary Jane SEAMAN mar. Benjamin DOCKSTADER of Montgomery Co., son of Benjamin and Alice Dockstader
James SEAMAN, Sr. mar. second Catherine VAN ALSTYNE, dau. of Barent and Sarah (WEMPLE) Van Alstyne of Ephratah, NY. They had four children:
Andrew SEAMAN [b.abt.1760] mar. Virtue Van Alstyne, dau. of Barent and Sarah (Wemple) Van Alstyne
I am in the middle of the sixth generation and have ten generations to type in so it will be a while yet! I am working from a book published in 1928 by Mary Thomas SEAMAN. When I have finished typing in the book I will then have to go back and begin to cite the sources and document her assertions (which she unfortunately did NOT do). But it's great to have a road map to the possible relationships between all the SEAMANs that migrated up the Hudson and then out of the Mohawk Valley. Keep up your GREAT work! When I bump into more Herkimer/Montgomery County SEAMANs I will let you know!
