Some of you have told me that you've had good luck while others haven't heard a thing. Don't give up hope as your query could bring you the "magic contact" a long time after it's posting. If you've uncovered more information that could enhance your query, send updated info at any time and we'll revise your query. If you've had good luck posting on this board, please let us know about it! If you change your email address, please contact us.
BROWSING TIP: As our research progresses and we find out more about our ancestors, new surnames become significant. Many queries contain more than one surname so if you only use the alphabetical search you might miss a surname you're looking for that's in another query. You can easily spot surnames with our Queries Surnames Index. The index is also a great starting point for newcomers to browse our back queries boards.
***Don't see your query?*** Your query must have a known Herkimer or Montgomery County connection in the body of your query, or be related to families associated with another of your Herkimer/Montgomery postings - or we delete it. If you're unsure of where your NY State ancestors resided, Kim at the "Unknown Counties Page" will post your query.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING QUERIES: To help us post your query faster, and so we don't send it back to you, please:
Queries have not been coming in from the automatic forms server. Word has it that the Auto Query system is up and down again. If you do not see a query you sent in within the last 3 weeks, please send it directly to the coordinator.

Looking for information on Rachael Maria HALL, born March 9, 1834 Herkimer, Herkimer, NY to Lymon Hall and Susannah CLEMENS. Rachael married Reuben GREEN June 25, 1852.
My great-grandfather Franklin THURSTON - his parents were Rhoda and Moses - came to eastern Ontario from Herkimer County in the late 1800's. It's now a possibility that, despite tombstone evidence, "Franklin" Thurston could have been christened "Francis", so maybe I should just be looking for "Frank's" family to be more encompassing. Would appreciate hearing of other family lines which may have sprung from his numerous siblings.
Looking for information on and descendants of the Thomas COLLINS family. Thomas was born in Ireland around 1824. His wife Bridget KRAHAM was born in Ireland sometime in the mid 1830's. They had two children that I know of - Thomas who was born in 1866 and Mary born in 1869, both born in England. Bridget was still living in Little Falls, NY in January 1924. After that have not been able to find. Any help would be appreciated.

STAFFORD: Looking for the descendants of John Stafford and Martha Eldridge Stafford. They had two sons; Stephen Stafford b. ca. 1867 and Frederick Stafford b. ca. 1861. At one time Martha Eldridge Stafford had in her possession an ELDRIDGE or a FORD Bible. In this bible was information on a Derinda Eygenbroat or Derinda Eygenbroat Eldridge born 8 Aug 1827/29. She married James BURKE in 1853. It is possible that Derenda was an illegitimate daughter of Amanda Ford. Our family records do not give her father's name. It was possibly EYGENBROART. Thanks for any help.

Could you give me some direction please? If I wanted to know what Catholic church or churches were serving the German immigrants that came to Amsterdam, NY around the time of 1825-1840, where would I begin asking? Any ideas? For starters, I am trying to find the record of my gg-grandfathers marriage, Balthazar Thoma to Anne Margaret Becking in 1840 in Amsterdam, NY. I would also like to know what cemeteries the German Catholic immigrants used. Looking for names THOMA, BECKING and HIGHMILLER. Thoma and his wife later came to Wisconsin and here I am!!! Had an uncle named Robert MILLER who was married to a woman named Maude. Had at least one child, a daughter named Elinor (not sure of the spelling). They lived in Amsterdam, N.Y. He was born in 1892 in Au Sable Forks, N.Y. I believe. His father was Albert and his mother was Elizabeth (SNOW) Miller. He had six brothers and all of their names began with the letter R. I think he died in 1984 if my research has directed me to the right Robert. If anyone reading this can verify the wife and daughter connection to this Robert, then I have connected with this uncle. Thank You. Craig Miller

Stone Arabia Lutheran Church records report a marriage 20 Dec 1768 between Hennrich MAJER and Elisabetha ROSNERIN. Those names are usually spelled MOYER and ROSNER with umlaut over the "o" in Rosner. Need to know parents of both Hennrich and Elisabetha. Am hoping that Elisabetha's parents turn out to be Maria Catharina WAGNER and Georg Rosner, since they had an unnamed child bap. 1749 at Schoharie Lutheran Church.
