Our SHAUT precursor in USA was Theodarus, who with his brother Ulrick, was naturalized in USA around 1750. I do not know his parentage, or his country or city of origin. He lived in the Town of Minden. Theodarus' will was probated in 1801, or 1803, and is on file in Montgomery County Courthouse. Would appreciate ANY knowledge you may have. I believe ALL Shauts in USA are his descendents.

I am looking for information on the brothers and sisters of Sir William JOHNSON. In "Mohawk Baronet: A Biography of Sir William Johnson", James Flexner mentions that Sir William's parents; Christopher & Anne (WARREN) Johnson, had three sons and four daughters. Besides Sir William, Flexner only gives the name of one of the brothers, Warren Johnson, and one of the sisters, Katharine.
My great-great grandfather, Charles GRAY, left a somewhat obscure record as follows: "Alexander GRAY was my grandfather who was born in Scotland, Barickon Tweed and came to Canada with General Wolfe. Alexander's wife was Louisa JOHNSTON, sister to Sir William and John JOHNSTON, the founder of Johnstown in the State of New York, where my father was born, whose name was Thomas GRAY and removed to Canada where I was born,..." (I have seen indications that the name was spelled both JOHNSON and JOHNSTON back in those days.) It is slightly possible the John Johnston referred to was one of Sir William's brothers; in contrast to his son, Sir John. At this time, this statement by Charles Gray regarding his grandmother is the ONLY evidence we have of a connection between Louisa and Sir William JOHNSON. Any information or help to independantly verify this connection would be much appreciated.
