William Philip Minch
Fort Plain Montgomery County, NY

William Philip MINCH was born 20 Sep 1893 in Fort Plain, NY, a son of John Henry and
Louise [WETTERAU] MINCH of Fort Plain. John's parents were Philip and Anna Catharine [MINCH] MINCH.
Philip's parents were Johann and Anna Christine [HILLMES] MINCH. Anna's parents were Heinrich and
Anna MINCH. In 1917 William Philip MINCH was living on School Street, Nelliston, NY and worked as a
Lineman for the Glen Telephone Compnay. At some point he was drafted or enlisted in WWI. After returning
from the war, he once again took up his old job as a lineman for a telephone company and married
Verna GOLDEN. A daughter, Betty J., was born to them about 1921. William died 10 Sep 1927 in Fort
Plain and Verna went to work as a finisher in a knitting mill. The family lived with her mother in both the
1920 and 1930 census records (she as a widow in 1930) at 81 Douglas street and 1 Kellogg street, respectively, in Fort Plain.
This photo was rescued by Martha and sent to me as I'm connected with this Minch family. However,
I'd much enjoy giving the original photo to someone connected more closely to this part of the family than I
myself. If you are a direct descendant or close cousin to William's family please contact me! -
