Jerome A. Walrath Sat 15 Nov 1997
I am descended from the following line that was from Freys Bush in the early 1800's although some members may have lived in Starksville in Herkimer County. My line goes back to James H. WALRATH, son of William P. Walrath/Lydia DEY, grandson of Peter H. Walrath/Anna Eva HELLIGAS, and great-grandson of Henrich WALRADT and Elizabeth Catherine BOWMAN. Henrich (Henry) may have been the one who ran Walrath's Ferry near Fort Plain. He was also said to be a Justice of the Peace, and Innkeeper. Jerome A. Walrath

I need data on (Anna) Catherine PETERY/PETRI/PETRIE, b. 17 Sept. 1828 in Little Falls, Herkimer Co. She married Solomon Terry PIERCE before 1843. I believe, but can't confirm, her father was Joseph Petri, b. 28 Sept. 1775 in German Flatts, Herkimer Co. He married Anna DEMUTH, b. 24 Sept. 1794 in German Flatts. They married there ca 1816. Demuth, CHRISTMANN and BELLINGER appear all to be tied to my Catherine Petery. Any help on parentage of Solomon Terry Pierce would be the missing link for me. I am stymied.

Thank you! Your site is wonderful. I have located my great-greatgrandmother Caroline D. SLADE RIDER, buried in the Goodier Cemetery. I also discovered that her father-in-law, Wakeman Rider, was town assessor in Litchfield in 1870. That would be just before he and his sons, William and Joseph Rider (William with his second wife Helen T. Rider) and families moved to Adams County, Iowa. They purchased a farm that later became a century farm. Last October we buried my grandmother in the cemetery taken from that farm. That cemetery, the Nodaway city cemetery, also is the resting place for William, Helen, and Leon Wakeman Rider (son of William and Caroline). I had wondered what happened to Caroline, and now I know. I am still searching for information concerning those familes. I received a photo album from my grandmother with photos taken in New York in 1948 with names Elmer Rider, Sam Rider, Fred Rider, Olive GOODIER, and Eugene Goodier among others. I do know that Leon Wakeman Rider was a twin, but I do not know which of his siblings was his twin. I also do not know what happened to father Wakeman and his wife Hannah E. (whom I also discovered through your site), nor to Joseph and his family. My grandmother was named Ruth Hannah Rider GOOD, and now I know that name came from her great grandmother! Thank you very much for listing the names from tombstones in your local cemeteries. I know how much work that is. My husband and I both work for the state historical society and visit cemeteries on our vacations. Thanks for helping me find my ancestors and best of luck with your fantastic web site. If anyone has information on this family (where the Riders and Slades came from and which Slade family Caroline was from), I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks again!

I am searching for information on ancestors named MEAGLEY/MAGLEY living in Towns of Charleston & Root during in early 1800's. The federal census for 1830 refers to John Magley and a possible relative, Francis Magley. John is in 1840 federal census, and then moved to Chenango County where he died in 1864. John's wife was Elizabeth MOWERS. This is my first query attempt. My name and address is James Meagley, 53 Gaslight Trail, Williamsville, NY 14221. E-mail address is JMeags@msn.com

I'm looking for the parents or other relatives of my g-grandfather Charles WARD. I know there were many Wards that lived in Montgomery County in late 1700's to early 1800's. My Charles was supposedly born a little farther west, in Allegany County, New York on 15 May 1805, and died 19 September 1876, Knox County, Missouri. He m. Martha BURKE from Russell County, Virginia 17 August 1836 in Adams County, Illinois. They had 8 children. I say supposedly because my source was from a tombstone and an old bible and recently a research company informed me that they have verifiable evidence that my date is incorrect. What I'm wondering is if my Charles is related to any of the Wards that I know were in Montgomery County during this time frame. Can anyone help me? Will gladly share what I have. Carl W. Ward, 202 South Elizabeth Avenue, Ferguson, Missouri 63135

I am searching my ancestry and have some links to Herkimer County and possibly Montgomery County. My ggg-grand father Parley WORDEN was born in Herkimer County abt. 1796/ 1799 and married Lydorianna BOYER. The Boyers and Parley Worden left Herkimer in 1837 and moved to Eaton County Mich. I have everything from there also. I have no problem with the Boyer family and have traced them back to France/Germany @ 1630. Manheim is the area where the Boyers were, so I am trying to find any link to the Boyers. Also we were always told that the Wordens came from Amsterdam, Holland, and settled in NY. But I see there is an Amsterdam, NY in Montgomery county. I have checked there also. But Parley Worden, I can't find anything on him or any Wordens in Herkimer County. If anyone has any leads for me regarding this family, I would appreciate it. We have found no record of Parley's parents or siblings. Thanks.

Herkimer County is doing a great job. I am waiting for information on Little Falls. My great-grandfather was Thomas BINGHAM, working as a shoemaker on West Main St. late l800's. Thanks, Carol. (Note: Little Falls will be one of the last Herkimer townships on line. The directory is way too large to give to a volunteer and I will be typing it myself bit by bit over the winter. I expect Little Falls to be on line in February or March. Meanwhile, if it's any consolation to Little Falls researchers, many Little Falls men are listed in our military rosters.)
