THE 14TH NEW YORK INFANTRY

The 14th NY Infantry was the first regiment raised in Oneida County, organized in Albany, NY, and mustered in to serve two years, on May 17, 1861, with Colonel James McQuade as their commanding officer. The regiment suffered many losses during its term of service.

The following is a list of soldiers from the 14th NY Infantry, born or enlisted from Herkimer/Montgomery County. Information was obtained from the Annual Report of the Adjutant General of the State of New York, for the year 1899, Albany: James B. Lyon, State Printer, 1900, and the 14th New York Infantry Roster Book. I have also included the casualties at the battle of Malvern Hill, Va., found in a Utica, NY newspaper, at the end of this list.
