32nd NY Regiment, Companies B and D Roster of Montgomery County Members
Finally, A complete Roster
The information about this regiment comes from "The History of Montgomery County" by Washington Frothingham, published in 1892 in Syracuse, NY by D. Mason & Co, Publishers and Printers.. The Civil War Rosters of Companies B and D are derived from "Muster Rolls of New York State Volunteers", Adjutant General's Office, S.N.Y, published by Comstock & Cassidy, Printers in 1864 in Albany, N.Y. The surnames of the privates have been alphabetized for your convenience.
"The Thirty-second was recruited under one of the first calls for troops, and was accepted by the state on May 22, 1861. It was organized in New York City, and on May 31st it was mustered into service for two years. On the expiration of this term the three years' men were transferred to the One Hundred and Twenty-first regiment. Company B was recruited at Canajoharie, and Company D at Amsterdam; but, unfortunately, there does not appear to be any roll of names, for which reason we are unable to furnish them to the reader. The Thirty-second marched June 29, 1861, and served for several weeks at Washington and Alexandria, but was afterwards attached to the Army of the Potomac, and shared its reverses and victories until the term of enlistment ended. The regiment was mustered out of service June 9, 1863.

If you have ancestors who served in the 32nd or the 121st, please email us their names . These original rolls do not indicate town of origin in Montgomery or Herkimer County, although Company B was recruited at Canajoharie, and Company D at Amsterdam. Hopefully the complete rolls will serve as the catalyst needed for you to find your own ancestor among those listed.
