I knew him to do duty in Capt John Davis's Company and Freederick Fishers Regt & never knew him absent from the parade at an alarm but on account of my advanced age my memory in a measure fails that I cannot now recollect the particular places and times he served as a private until August 1777 when I saw him in our Army in the same Company with me on our March to the Oriseo Battle and on our March I was ordered out with 2 men with me to explore the woods on the north side of the Mohawk River and did not return to the Regt til the battle was fought in said battle Capt Davis was killed and Emediently after Abraham Veeder our first Lieut was appointed Capt. I then saw Richard Putman was appointed Ensign in said Company-in 1778 in the following spring our Regt was ordered to Stonerabya where said Putman did duty as Ensign for three weeks Emidiently after out discharge of Stonearabia our Regt was ordered out to Sagondaga to build a Blockhouse where I knew Putman to serve Eight Days sometime the same season the Regt was ordered to Conijohary where I knew Putman to serve two weeks the next time the whole Regt marcht out was to Bowmans Creek where we was out 2 weeks of the time I was not certain but I think it was in 1779 in the spring 1780 the first of May he was on duty 7?
