I just found something on the 1880 census and it may be something for me. I am currently living in Japan, so doing research for myself is a little hard. The name I found was Alexander ETHERTON, age 21, a resident employee in Daniel MOYERS home. My grandmother has a brother named Alexander Etherton. According to my grandmother, her mother was born in Little Falls; she doesn't remember where her father was born. This is the information she gave me: Charles ETHERTON (1886-1942) married Ida May or Mae ANEVRY (1900-1963). Charles and Ida's children were: Anna May or Mae, Edith (Grandmother), William, Charles Jr., Lena, Alexander, Emma, James William DINGHAM (half-brother). Any information would be extremely helpful. Thank you. Rosemarie A. Denis. Home Page ishttp://www.geocities.com/Heartland/8132.
Update: 10/3 - I have made a hit so to speak. I posted a query about the Alexander Etherton i found in the 1880 census. I thought I would take a wild stab at asking my grandmother if she could remember her grandfather's name. I couldn't believe she said Alexander Etherton. I just about fell out of my chair. With his age in 1880, the location, the fact that my Grandmother has a brother named Alexander, and that I found no other Ethertons in New York as of yet, I can't help but believe this Alexander Etherton is my grandmother's grandfather. Since I am positive he is I thought I would add what my grandmother told me. She thinks that Alexander's wife's name was Lena. She doesn't know if they had any other children besides Charles Etherton.

Seeking parents of David C. BETTS, born 1803. Family tradition says he was born in Amsterdam, NY but I have found no trace. Since this area was heavily settled by Palatines, could name be spelled differently?. That is the only spelling the family has seen. He lived in Indian Territory (OK) from about 1844-70. He then disappeared from the records in OK. Some say he returned to NY. Any assistance very gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

My ancestor Bernard "Barney" CRAMER died in or near Root on 2 MAR 1847 at age 74 at the home of his son Frederick CRAMER. I would like to find his grave as well as an obituary if possible. Their children, born between 1795 and 1812, were Frederick B, Catherine COMPTON, John R, Jeremiah F, William C, Bernard S and Peter D. Perhaps there is information in Montgomery County relating to my ancestors Jeremiah F (b. 1803) & Julia Ann (SHOEMAKER) CRAMER whose graves I have not yet found. Any information or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi! I was just wondering if you have a book on early residents of your county? I am looking for info on Samuel WATERS and his wife, Hester (SMITH). Samuel is listed in Herkimer County in the 1800, 1810, 1820 and 1830 Census. I am hoping that this is my Samuel Waters. They had a son Harvey born to them in 1802 or 1807. You know, there's a lot of Samuel Waters' in NY during this period! Thank you for any assistance you may offer. Ronnie. Please contact me at: Mira772966@aol.com.
