Researcher Claudia Bement has done considerable research on early Walter(s) and Sitts and would love to hear from others researching her families:
"Christian Walter married Catharina Sitts on 7 Feb 1787 in Minden, Montgomery County. Christian Walter and Catharina Sitts had seven sons; our line is through their oldest, Jacob Walter, who was born 14 Feb 1788 in Fort Plain. Jacob Walter married Magdalena Davidson in 1811 and they had 10 children. I have a great deal of info on Jacob Walter and have traced seven of the ten children.
Christian Walter is a son of Jacob Walter and Catharine (unknown last name). He was born July 17, 1757 or 1758. Catharina Sitts is my "problem child". She is believed to be a daughter of Peter and Juliana Sitts, however, I have yet to find a birth or baptismal record for her. Catharina Sitts Walter died 12 Mar 1856 in Richfield Springs, Otsego County, at the ripe old age of 96 years, 5 months and 7 days according to her tombstone.
I would appreciate any leads on connecting Catharina Sitts to the right Sitts line; also any tidbits on the Walter line."
