The Will of Duncan McGregor of the Town of Florida was graciously contributed by McGregor researcher Nancy Robinson. This is the first will she's finished transcribing.

"In the months since discovering my heretofore unknown McGregor cousin thru your website, I have certainly fluffed out the branches of my family tree. I now have wills of my g-g-g & g-g McGregor grandfathers from Florida Twp to contribute!"

The last Will and Testament of Duncan McGregor of the town of Florida in Montgomery County, made and executed this twenty eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven

First - I direct my Executors hereinafter named to pay my funeral expenses after my death. My other debts my son Alexander is bound to pay by an agreement made and entered into between the said Alexander and myself.

Second - I give and bequeath to my son Alexander one Cow to be selected by him and a Red Heifer now in my possession.

Third - I give and bequeath to my son Alexander & to my son James, all my Farming utensils, which includes my Farming Mill, to be enjoyed by them equally as Tenants in common.

Fourth - I give and bequeath to my son John McGregor six sheep, and to Elizabeth the daughter of my son Daniel McGregor two sheep, and the residue of my Sheep should there remain any after my death, I give and bequeath to my younger children James, Archebald & Anne, & I also give to my son John my Brown Horse.

Fifth - I direct my Executors to pay to my wife Elizabeth so long as she shall remain my Widow, the interest of a seven hundred dollar Bond & mortgage given by Daniel McGregor to me bearing date the third day of December in the year 1833 and Recorded in the Clerk's office of Montgomery County. Said interest to be applied by her to her own maintainance & the maintainance & education of my three younger children, James, Archebald & Anne.

Sixth - The principle of the Seven Hundred dollar Bond & mortgage before mentioned, I give devise & bequeath to my three children James, Archebald & Anne, and to their Heirs & assigns - To be paid to them when they severally arrive at the age of twenty one years. But in case my Executors shall adjudge proper to take any portion of the principle of the Bond & mortgage aforesaid, given by Daniel McGregor, to me for the maintainance and education of my said three children James, Archebald & Anne at any time after my decease, they are hereby authorized so to do, leaving this matter discretionary with my Executors. And my desire is that the said children shall remain & live with their mother in the East half of the house provided for her in the agreement made to me by my son Alexander, so long as my said wife shall remain my widow, or until said children shall respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years. And in case my said Executors shall take any portion of the principle of said Bond & mortgage for the maintainance and education of the three children last aforesaid, then and in that case, the payment of interest of said Bond & mortgage to my wife Elizabeth shall abate in proportion.

Seventh - I give devise & bequeath to my wife Elizabeth the use of all my household furniture so long as she remains my widow, and after her death, or after she ceases to be my widow I give and bequeath the same to my three children James, Archebald & Anne. And I also give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth all her own clothing & trinkets for her own use.

Eighth - I give devise & bequeath all the rest and residue of my Real and personal estate to my three children James, Archebald & Anne, and to their heirs & assigns forever.

Lastly - I appoint my friends, John Enders of Florida and Howland Fish of Glen, Executors to this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
