Subscriber's Listing
At the time of this 1917 phone book there would have been many independent telephone companies in existence and this book reflects the subscribers of this specific company and it's affiliated companies in the region. There may be other companies servicing other households. Or in the more rural areas, there may only be a few telephones servicing the entire community.
| Question: |
What does this mean to you as a family historian? |
| Answer: |
If your ancestor is not listed within this phone book, he may have been a subscriber to another company, or he may not have had his own telephone service. It certainly does not mean that he wasn't residing in the areas serviced by the Glen Telephone Company! |
If your relative is listed in this phone directory, please direct all inquiries for further information to the appropriate county, city or village historical societies and libraries.
